USC ESPORTS WRAP-UP #10
By: Richard Wang
Heya USC Games! This week, we have a bunch of W’s in all our teams’ weekly match summaries for their respective tournaments. We also have a short blurb for last week’s Halloween Get-Together! Additionally, for the full Deep Dive interview with the League of Legends team last week, you can find it at https://www.usctrojanesports.com/news/usc-esports-wrap-up-9. Next week, look out for updates on E-Conquest (and maybe even an interview with the Rocket League team)!
Halloween Get-Together
Last Friday, our Esports team had a Halloween event at the Firehouse with free snacks and drinks! Players came dressed in costumes to a fun day of scrims and casual games of Overwatch, League of Legends, and even Brawl Stars!
Marvel Rivals: Catapulting into Playoffs
The Marvel Rivals team went against CSULB Black and came out 3-1 with a victory. This Tuesday, they’ll have their first match for Division 2 NECC West playoffs, going head-on against Kansas State University. Now that their third seed on West Central A, they’ll now be facing off against the West Central B conference, so don’t forget to cheer them on!
Overwatch: Hunting Tigers
This week, our Overwatch team went against the Doane University Tigers in a three-round, dive rich match-up. Ilios saw a Tracer duel, with USC’s AddL starting a blowout by winning trades and getting hella Pulse Bomb value! On New Queen Street, Doane pulled out a Wrecking Ball comp to take an early lead, but mid-game switches to Junkrat and a disconnect between their frontline and backline gave USC the chance to sweep in and take another round. When it got to Rialto, USC was already on a hot plate, taking the round before Doane even got first point with a Winston Freja comp which the Tigers couldn’t escape. The final score was 3-0 in favor of USC!
Rocket League: Double Whammy On The 4-3s
The Rocket League team had two weeks straight of solid match ups. Diving into the NMSU Petes game, USC took the game with a cutthroat score 4-3 with good rotations, brutal, unblockable shots taken by Eshan and Juan, and Xavier’s brick wall of defense. Once the score hit 3-3 and USC got their plays in, they played it safe and took the final round with powerful clears as always. Who would’ve guessed that this streak would continue for USC with another cutthroat 4-3 against GCU Black: The Cardinal Team hit them hard with insane saves and ball control, dismantling GCU’s players one-by-one. At this rate, the Rocket League team will be looking at a lot more wins in the future, so stay tuned!
League Legends: CCEL Beatdown
Our League Team will be moving on to semifinals this week after sweeping CSLUB 2-0 in CCEL! We wish them the best of luck!
