USC ESPORTS WRAP-UP #5

By: Richard Wang

Heya USC Games! Another quick wrap up for y’all. All our teams were wrapped up with NECC matches once again this week. In the following weeks, look out for the team ‘Deep Dives’ in the newsletter!

Rocket League:

The Rocket League team’s schedule was packed this week. The Gold team too had a scrim against Messiah University, winning 5-2 and getting a ton of great clips! While they lost the following matches in the CRL 3v3 open against BPCU and Tennessee Tech (which was a close one!), it was a great team-building exercise where they got a chance to show off their rotations despite their tougher opponents! As for CWCS qualifiers, the USC team pulled off two wins against NMTand Cal Poly Humboldt Green and two losses against NMSU and ASU. From clean sweeps to stomps to cutthroat victories and defeats, “This day was filled with fun, laughter, and improvement. But I still remember, even in the losses, we had fun, we were laughing, we were improving, we were playing the game we enjoy!” (From one of our players!). On another note, the team did however have a rough week in CCS against MSU, UCLA, and Indiana, fighting hard but ultimately losing all three back-to-back matches.

Marvel Rivals:

Our Marvel Rivals team went head to head against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars, taking a decisive 3-0 victory by clean sweep!

League of Legends:

On that same note, the League team also went up against Fanshawe College. Starting off with a stomp in the first match, a cutthroat second, USC took the victory in the end 2-01

Overwatch:

The Overwatch varsity team hit a bump in the road going 1-3 against Chico State Red as they continue to figure out how to make the Zarya-Reaper comp work.
