USC ESPORTS WRAP-UP #8

By: Richard Wang

Heya USC Games! Welcome back to another E Sports Wrap Up! This week, we have a few updates from the Overwatch and Smash Bro’s team. It’s been another light week for the other teams, but we hope to hear from the League of Legends team next week in an NECC deep dive— in addition to the Rocket League team in the following week.

OVERWATCH: Beat The Broncos

Last week, the USC Overwatch team went head to head against the Cal Poly Bronco Esports Green. With Lilyboi on Tank, AddL and NotKorean on DPS, and jasta and bdgunda on support, the USC team had to face down Bronco’s Doomfist double flex support comp. Throughout the game, our team decided to switch things up a little to keep things interesting: Lijiang saw a Freja-Tracer and Lucio-Kiriko frontline; Esperança saw the classic Zarya-Reaper composition, tried and true. Bronco stuck to their comp throughout, but once USC got an early lead, there was no stopping the snowball. The match ended with a clean 3-0 sweep in favor of USC!

SMASH BROS: Staying On The Podium

The Smash Team went up against Paradise Valley Community College last week in a cutthroat NECC match that ended in a 1-2 score in favor of Paradise Valley. Ranked 3rd in the division with a 3-2 overall win/loss ratio, it’s a tough fight for USC to stay on the podium. With two more matches on the horizon, they need to stay in the top 4 to make it to the playoffs.

Show some school spirit and tune into their next match against Montana on Tuesday at 7pm at twitch.tv/uscsmashclub!
