USC ESPORTS WRAP-UP #7

By: Richard Wang

Hey there USC games! Tournaments are still picking up with wins and losses side by side, but we’re excited to see how teams work under pressure as the competition continues to pick up. Next week, we’re expecting to have a post-game interview with the Rocket League team, so stay tuned for that!

Rocket League

The Rocket League team had their hands full with CRL this week with another victory tallied up against Kennesaw State 2-0 clean sweep! One of our players optimistically remarks: “First game was dominant. We actually got passing plays in, we had crazy goals like double taps, and it was all super good!” Two other high stakes matches were lined up against Davenport and North Dakota, which on the other hand, both ended in hard-fought losses. The pressure for CRL is picking up undoubtedly, as our team continues to push hard for victories.

Overwatch

Our Overwatch team went up in a fateful game against UCLA this week, which, despite it being a cutthroat match, ended up in a reverse sweep against USC. The team is currently continuing to figure out non-Lucio centric team compositions— getting target-banned is not fun! But once the team figures that out and continues to polish their rotations, there’s no doubt that they’ll be unstoppable in NECC.

League of Legends

The LoL USC team dove into CCEL and came out with a sweeping win against CSUSB Yotes 2-0! Coming out strong, our team ended the best-of-3 game swiftly by match 2 that ended in a forfeit from the opposition.
